Mon, July 27 – Intro to Coding with Grand Circus

Our Introduction to Coding Workshop is a free workshop designed folks who are curious about coding, but who have little to no experience. This workshop is the perfect class to learn the programming foundations needed to eventually build a website or mobile app. While you won’t leave the workshop a developer, you will leave with an understanding of the code needed to learn any programming language.
We’ll cover (using JavaScript): Common terms used by programmers / Data Types / Boolean Expressions / Conditional Statements. Don’t know what any of these things mean? Perfect – this class is for you.

For all of our badass ladies, we’re excited to co-host this month with Grand Circus! Grand Circus is a proud downtown Detroit company, and we’re passionate about bridging the gap between Detroiters and the businesses here who want to hire great people. The way we do that is through intensive bootcamps that teach people the skills they need to be extremely valuable to local technology companies. We listen to employers to understand what skills they need, so we only offer bootcamps that have been confirmed by the business community.
In addition to our bootcamps, we’re here for the tech community more broadly. We host 50+ entrepreneurs in our coworking space, put on events and seminars, and have programs at local high schools to teach kids how to code. If you can’t tell already, we love Detroit, its people, and the exciting things that are happening here.

IT in The D was started by IT professionals for IT professionals. We didn’t like any other group out there, so we started our own! At our events, you might meet some recruiters, some out of work developers, some sales guys, some network admins, some web guys and some senior level management
